THIS game proved how competitive this league is. Having scored 123 points in their two previous outings, Taunton managed only seven against a very good Bishops Stortford side, writes Hugh Duder.
Taunton started well against the fifth placed side, camped on the opposition line for five minutes, eventually giving up possession leading to Stortford'sfirst of four first half tries.
All of those came in relatively quick succession, as inside the opening forty minutes the hosts led 20-0 and that was the score at the break.
Nick Mason went off injured after 20 minutes with an elbow injury, followed by Richards and Prior who both took knocks.
To compound the injuries, Taunton lost a prop to a red card then two yellows and were down to 13 men for 20 minutes.
To their credit, they then played their best rugby of the afternoon. Brian Ncube scored a converted try in that period of play.
Poor discipline was partly to blame in this defeat for the Titans on a disappointing afternoon for them and their travelling supporters.
They must quickly re-group and bounce back for their next game against Darlington this coming Saturday, March 11 at home. Kick off is 3pm.
