Rosslyn Park Vs Taunton Titans

THE Titans arrived in West London hoping to carry forward their good form shown against the Rams last time out, writes Hugh Duder.

A large crowd anticipated a close game before kick off however that was not the outcome in the cold and windy conditions.

For 10 minutes Taunton looked comfortable and took the game to the home side. However an injury to Titans fly half Frankie Dart came soon after and that changed the dynamic of the game.

A penalty kick deep into their own 22 and then a lineout carry and maul resulted in the first try of the match to Rosslyn and it was 7-0.

On 20 minutes an exact repeat of the first try happened, this time on the opposite side of the pitch and the hosts were 14-0  up.

Park's third try came from Titans kicking away possession on 26 minutes and cheaply conceding the try. It was 21-0 at this point.

On 33 minutes, for the third time in the match the Titans conceded a penalty which Rosslyn Park kicked to the corner. From the lineout, they caught and mauled for the bonus point try. 26-0.

Then on the stroke of half time it was a swift ball movement from the home side which saw them get the ball to Benji Marjo who crossed to make it 32-0 at the interval.

The hosts started the second half where they left off but this time their backs ran straight through the Titan's defenses from the halfway line to make it 38-0.

A stolen ball on the 10 metre line then resulted in a similar try under the posts to make it 45-0.

More quick passing brought up the final try of the match as Rosslyn Park reached 52 points for Titans zero.

Rosslyn Park seized their opportunities in this match and made the most of the gaps left by Taunton in defense.

The hosts, it would be fair to say, produced their seasons best performance against Taunton on the 4G pitch which Titans failed to adjust to.

Taunton need to consider coming up with a different game plan if they are to get back to winning ways.

Hard as they tried in this match, a lack of discipline is becoming costly.

Next home match for the Taunton Titans is this weekend, December 10. Kick off is 3pm at Veritas Park.
