150th Anniversary Gala Launch Dinner

If you haven’t already booked your places for Taunton RFC’s150th Anniversary Gala Launch Dinner at Veritas Park on Friday 5thJuly, you’ll need to get your skates on. With a memorable night in store to kick off a year of celebrations, the tables are filling up fast.

 

The price per head of £65 represents terrific value considering it includes a 4-course dinner, music and special guest speakers Scott Quinnell and Tom Foley.

 

Scott Quinnell has unparalleled rugby pedigree. His father, Derek, and his uncle Barry John were legends of Welsh rugby as was his godfather, Mervyn Davies. A number 8 with over 50 international caps for Wales, Quinnell captained his country seven times and was a British and Irish Lions tourist twice, earning three Test caps. A dual international, he was further capped by Wales during a two-year interlude in rugby league when he also won the league title with Wigan. His post-retirement career is no less accomplished; he is a renowned commentator, TV presenter, businessman, author and speaker. He is sure to provide diners with an entertaining evening of stories from a life in rugby.

 

One of the Gallagher Premiership’s top referees, Tom Foley has officiated in over 200 league fixtures, including well over a hundred as the man with the whistle. He was Television Match Official for the recent Northampton vs Bath Premiership Final, the fourth occasion on which he has fulfilled that role. His experience also extends to 48 international fixtures including being TMO at the 2023 Rugby World Cup Final, after which he stepped back from officiating in internationals. Foley is a part of the Taunton RFC family and will undoubtedly share some privileged insights into refereeing at the top level.

 

The evening will additionally feature an auction with some money-can’t-buy prizes and experiences. For those who like to take a chance there will also be some Las Vegas gaming tables.  

 

Dinner tables will seat groups of up to 12. The evening begins at Taunton RFC’s Veritas Park home at 6.30pm with pre-dinner drinks. Carriages will be at midnight. The price is £65 per head for this black tie or smart attire event which marks the commencement of Taunton RFC’s year of festivities commemorating the 150th anniversary of its founding.
