The quality of the pitch and the near perfect conditions meant that Taunton and Exeter Uni Freshers, served up a high quality and exciting first game of pre-season.
With a large number of senior players training, Taunton were still able to field 30 players over four 20 minute quarters, including 14players who were making their Taunton debut.
Taunton scored two tries during the first 40 minutes through Boris Aimes and Jack Connor, and really grew into the game seemingly getting stronger as the game went on, scoring a further six tries in the second half through Nick Payne, Ben OT, Oscar Stewart, Luke Bralsford, and Greg Kitson two. It was a great first game for Taunton and the way in which they played was exciting to watch. With a number of boys to come back in, we’ll start to find out even more over the next seven days as our pre-season starts to hot up, this Saturday we face Clifton 13:00 KO Followed by Chard on Tuesday (15th) 19:30 KO both at Veritas Park.
Yappy “after seven weeks of training it was nice for so many of the boys to finally get back out there and start playing, you don’t normally tend to read to much into the first pre-season game, especially when using so many players, but I will say, as a start point i’m really pleased with how well the boys played, especially our effort and our intent to play which was great, the evening was a real success and has given us a very strong foundation on which to build through the rest of pre-season and into the first league games”
This weekend we will get another chance to see some more of the Taunton Squad as the Titans will be playing against Clifton at Veritas Park. The game is a 13:00 Kick Off on Saturday 12th August. £5 Entry. We look forward to seeing and hearing our supporters once again.
