Taunton 2's Vs Crediton

The newly formed TauntonXV/Warriors treated a crowd of over 200 to a thoroughly entertaining game against rivals Crediton who play in a league above where the Warrior’s will start this season.  This was only Taunton XV’s second competitive game together, having beaten Clifton last week.  The first 15minutes showed tremendous enthusiasm from the team and definite areas of strength, but they were exposed when against the run of play Crediton spun the ball wide to give them a try, leaving the Warriors trailing by 7 points. Taunton then started to put more phases together driving time after time at the Crediton line and were eventually rewarded with a try which was converted making the scores level.  Crediton started to gain more possession and they too were able to extend their lead from a driving maul so that at halftime Taunton turned around with a five-point deficit.  A team talk at halftime and some player changes seemed to bring a little more coherence to the team when from the driving maul the Taunton Hooker broke away to score near to the posts. This was duly converted and Taunton for the first time in the game were in front 14 points to 12 points.  Crediton very quickly came back and over similar to the first of their tries they moved the ball quickly wide their right wing scored their third try, restoring Crediton’s lead to 19 points to 14 points.  The powerful Taunton Pack continued to dominate with several drives and on the stroke of full time , from one such drive, they spun the ball wide for the left winger to score.  This gave a score of 19points all with the conversion and last kick of the game to come.  The kick was missed leaving Taunton with a very credible draw.
