This was an interesting game played in very cold conditions on a sloping pitch. It was interrupted by a plethora of penalties which interrupted any continued and free flowing play. A broken collar bone on 20 minutes to scrumhalf Ollie Guest also caused major disruption to the normal free flowing play by the whole of the Warriors side, although great credit must be given to those who played out of position,
Chosen Hill kicked off and the Warriors secured good ball and make a good drive forward, only for them to concede a penalty which Chosen Hill kicked to the Warriors 22metre line. Alex Long rose at the back of the lineout to steal the ball and the Warriors made progression. More penalties were conceded and Chosen hill went over for the first try which was converted and they held a 7-point lead which only lasted two minutes as Tom Bradner went in almost from there-start, The try was not converted but the Warriors started to gain more possession and Chosen Hill started to concede penalties. The stop start game was not giving any continuity. On thirty-five minutes Nick Payne used his size and burst through the centre before passing onto Ben Alvis to score the try which Josh Guest converted. From the re-start a small incident gave both teams a yellow card and the half petered out with the Warriors leading12-points to 7.
It took 15 minutes after there-start for the next score when Henry Webb took a ball inside his own 22metreline and ran at the Chosen hill defence. With his strength and pace, he broke several tackles and scored under the posts. The fourth and bonus point try came from some real forward dominance and build up for Ben Alvis to get his second try. The Warriors conceded a penalty and Chosen hill from a lineout went over for the try which was converted. Taunton Warriors came back and added a fifth try and then a sixth where Ben Alvis made the break before putting through a kick for Ben Heath to score. In the last move of the game the Warriors conceded a penalty and from the kick to the corner Chosen Hill went in for the try.
This was a dominant performance from the pack who presented good ball which the opposition by one means or another managed to spoil. This Saturday the Warriors are away at Nailsea but we hope that you will all be getting ready to welcome Bridgwater to the Veritas stadium on 1st February for the Warriors first home game of the season.
