It is with great pleasure that I welcome everyone to the new season at Taunton rugby football club. This is an extra special year as it marks the 150th year of our club and I can't wait for it to get started. To all the members signed up to this special year how proud do we feel that we get to carry on Taunton rugby football club, your membership is not just for a beer discount it is access to steer and represent the club for the future. To be a member should fill you with great pride.

The pre-season is finished, the pitch is looking good and our Titans and Warriors are ready to go.

We also have a women's team, wonderful junior section and even a vets team that bumble around once or twice a year. Behind all that is an army of volunteers that piece it all together and to you all I give my thanks for all your hard work and dedication.

I started my rugby like many at secondary school and if it was not for ex first team coach John Cooling telling us lads who loved rugby to go to TRFC maybe my path would be different. Since 1989 every September to April without a break I have been at the club and long may it continue.

There is something about a rugby club that is hard to replicate elsewhere, our lunches are excellent and our staff are always friendly and hardworking - 250 people for lunch is quite a challenge but it is always achieved, if you have never had a pre-match lunch at the club it really is a wonderful way to get the rugby experience ramped up a level.

One of the greatest sights you will see is a busy crowd all cheering the players on, the noise and atmosphere builds as a player breaks up the middle of the pitch to score, then the music to accompany the try whilst applause from the crowd.

To the fans I can't thank you enough.

So that's it, we are ready to go.

Enjoy it.
