Wellington 38 Taunton Warriors 12

The score does not really reflect the game, and for large parts the Warriors were the dominant side.  They were just unable to convert that dominance into points.  This is reflected in the high penalty count which Wellington had to repel that Warriors attack double that of which the Warriors gave away.  The Warriors were never outplayed and it was against the run of play when on 14 minutes Wellington went in for a try which was converted to give then a seven-point lead.  This was not held long as a break from Connor Banks and a chip over the top saw Jack Connor collect, he brushed off the tackle side stepped the next before committing the last line of defence and passing to Connor Baker to run in under the posts for the try which was converted to level the scores.  Wellington then scored a second try on the 25-minute mark which was converted and so that score stayed until half-time with the Warriors just 7-points adrift.  Three early tries in the first 10minutes of the second half gave Wellington a 31-point to 7 lead.  The Warriors continued to press and it was only some excellent tackling by Wellington which thwarted the Warriors attack.  The Warriors were rewarded with ten minutes left on the clock when Tom Labdon used his power and pace to go in for an unconverted try.  The Warriors were pressing hard and there were opportunities however against the run of play with the final whistle about to go, Wellington went in for a final converted try.

A good performance by the Warriors whose next opponents are Winscombe on Easter Saturday at Taunton.  This will be a good opportunity for all of the Taunton faithful to come and cheer their young side.
